Our flexible schedules and Extended Day programming give you peace of mind about how to meaningfully engage your child over the summer.
-
Extended Day is available before and after all camps from 7:30 to 9 A.M. and 3 to 6 P.M.
-
A Tatnall Summer allows campers to mix and match camps. For example, a camper can begin the morning in a sports camp and then transition into traditional day camp. This flexibility allows campers to experience a wider range of camps.
-
Our day camp staff ensures timely transitions between all camps and programs, as well as Extended Day and Swim Team.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Drop-Off
For campers in our day camps (Junior, Traditional, Board the Bus), drop-off will be held at the Sedgley (Lower School) building where all divisions of camp will begin the day on the Sedgley lawn. There are multiple entrances to the Tatnall Campus; please use the one closest to Centerville Road and adjacent to the tennis courts. The staff will be waiting for you at carline beginning at 8:50 a.m. to welcome your camper(s) and assist with getting settled into camp. Carline will run from 8:50 to 9:10 a.m. each day. We will have two lines of cars when you pull into the Sedgley driveway; the inside lane closest to the rocks will be our express lane. This is for campers who can get out of the car quickly, easily, and alone. The outside lane closest to the tennis courts will be for junior day campers, campers who need assistance getting in and out of the car, and for parents with quick questions. We ask that you allow for some extra time at drop-off at the beginning of the week so that your camper’s transition to camp is a happy one. Once the opening ceremony has concluded, campers will transfer inside to drop their belongings off and start their day.
For campers in our Sports, Specialty, and Enrichment camps, please refer to the specific drop-off information included in the pre-camp email.
In order to ensure that your camper’s week runs smoothly, you are welcome to visit our Camp Office on Monday mornings to confirm registration (including lunches and extended day), make payments, register for additional services or weeks of camp, or discuss medications or concerns with the nurse. If visiting the Camp Office, please drop your camper off and pull around the driveway to the black awning, and enter the building.
Full Day and Afternoon Session Pick-Up
Pick-up for all divisions of day camp will take place at the Sedgley (Lower School) Building. The pick-up process will be nearly identical to the drop-off procedure. We will have two lines of cars when you pull into the Sedgley driveway; the inside lane closest to the rocks will be our express lane. This is for campers who can get in the car quickly, easily, and alone. The inside lane closest to the tennis courts will be for junior day campers, campers who need assistance getting in and out of the car, and for parents with quick questions.
For campers in our Sports, Specialty, and Enrichment camps, please refer to the specific pick-up information included in the pre-camp email.
If you would like to speak to a camp representative, please pick-up your child and drive around to the black awning where a member of our camp team will be happy to assist you.
Any camper left fifteen minutes after the end of camp will be transferred to Extended Day and the charge for that service ($15) will be applied to your camp account.
Transition to/from other camps
Our campers who are transitioning to or from other camps will be escorted to or from the camp by A Tatnall Summer staff member. No campers will be permitted to walk themselves across campus.
What to Bring
Please label everything your child brings or wears to camp! Your camper should arrive each day wearing close-toed shoes, a bathing suit, and sunscreen. Junior Day campers do not need to arrive wearing a bathing suit.
Please send your camper with:
-
Flip flops for the pool
-
A refillable water bottle
-
Morning and afternoon snack
-
Lunch, if you have not purchased lunch. This will not be refrigerated.
-
A second bathing suit for campers in grades 2-8
-
Towel (we recommend 2)
-
Sunscreen
-
Bug Spray (we often take walks through wooded trailed areas of campus)
-
A change of clothes
-
Junior campers should bring with them an extra towel to use during rest time
-
On Mondays, Junior Campers should bring an accident bag with a full change of clothes including shoes. This will stay on campus and be sent home on Friday.
-
Money for the snack shack, if you so choose
-
The snack shack will be available selectively to campers during Swim Time. Most items are $1.
-
Naps / Quiet Time
After lunch each day, our junior campers will have some quiet time for rest. Campers will listen to a story and will have the opportunity either to nap or just rest quietly for 30 minutes.
Early Pick-Up
Camp ends each day at 3pm. If you must pick-up your child before 3pm, please email us at ATatnallSummer@Tatnall.org and let us know 1) what time your child needs to leave and 2) who will be picking your child up. When you arrive on campus, please proceed to the black awning. Every effort will be made to have your child waiting there for you. Please do not seek out your child’s group and take him/her without following these procedures.
Late Drop-Off
Camp begins each day at 9am and carline ends at 9:10. If must drop your child off late, please proceed directly to the black awning and drop your child off with a camp representative. We will take your camper to his/her group. If you know in advance that your child will be late, please email us at ATatnallSummer@Tatnall.org and let us know.
Half-Day Pick-Up
Campers participating in just the morning session of day camp may be picked up at the Sedgley Building (Lower School).
-
Enter campus the same way you do for drop-off.
-
Please use the lane closest to the tennis courts, pull up to the “Car Line Begins Here” sign, and wait for further instructions from staff
-
Please remain in your car at all times
Authorized Pick-up
Only those parents/guardians listed at the time of registration will be permitted to pick-up your camper from camp and extended day. If you would like to authorize someone else to pick up your camper on a given day, please email ATatnallSummer@Tatnall.org before 1:30 p.m. that day.
Campers who are registered for morning extended day may be dropped off at the black awning beginning at 7:30 A.M. Campers will be escorted to Opening Ceremony at 8:50 A.M.
Campers who are registered for afternoon extended day may be picked up at the black awning. Late pick-ups (after 6 P.M.) will be charged at a rate of $15 for every 15 minutes.
Medications / Medical Issues
If your child requires medication throughout the day or has medical issues or concerns, please have a conversation with our Camp Nurse each Monday morning at drop-off. Please drop off your child at car line and proceed around the driveway to the black awning. Medications must be in their original packaging. Prescriptions must be in their original bottle with the camper’s name on the pharmacy label.
Ordering Lunches
We are pleased to partner with Caffe Gelato to offer lunches for purchase each day of camp. Please order lunches ahead of time at registration through our online registration system.
View our camp lunch options here.
Parents / Adults on Campus
With the exception of special events to which parents are invited, during our normal camp hours, for the safety of our campers and staff, we ask that non-campers (parents, adults, siblings, etc.) stay in the areas designated for car-line or the camp office. If you have a need to visit campus, please communicate with us in advance. Please see “Early Pick-up” and “Late Drop-off” for policies specific to those instances.
Our phone and voicemail will be monitored regularly from 7:30am to 6:00pm. You may call us at 302-892-4351 with any time-sensitive requests.
For general questions, registrations, payments, authorizing someone else to pick up your campers, different pick-up or drop-off times, etc., please email ATatnallSummer@Tatnall.org
